Sealed Screens or Non Sealed Screens?

The choice is yours of course but we have elected to stay focused on non sealed screens.  but some may well  ask, what is the difference anyway?  Great question!

Sealed screens are about double to treble the weight of non sealed screens.  Sealed screens must use a much heavier fabric than that used by non sealed outdoor movie screens.  Sealed screens are welded together to hold the inflation.  Non sealed outdoor movie screens are sewn together which means they loose the inflated air and thus require a constant air blower.

How big a deal this anyway? The answer is normally minimal.  Modern day blowers are relatively quiet in today's technology.  The blower is always close to the outdoor movie screen by definition and thus at least 10-20  metres from the audience.  The audience will hear very little.  When the music or film soundtrack commences the audience will not hear anything from the blower!

Sealed or welded screens have their advantage when being used as outdoor advertising display boards and it is advisable not to have a blower attached.  Quality welded screens or rather the frames will remain inflated for more than a week without any blower support.

An outdoor inflatable movie screen can be used inside very satisfactorily if used with a quality Silencer such as manufactured by Tool King.  The Tool King blower will reduce the blower noise by about 10dB. Huge inflatable movie screens provide an enormous wow! factor in venues with very high ceilings such as basketball stadiums, town halls and community centres.

Float In! A New Outdoor Movie Experience

Recently Melbourne City Council hosted a Float In at The Docklands in Melbourne.  Our events division, Melbourne Opena Air Cinema provided the movie experience.  MOAC supplied a giant 30 metres wide and screened 2 movies per night on Friday and Saturday nights for two exciting weeks.

The huge inflatable movie screen was inflated on an enormous barge in the middle of the Dockland harbour about 80 metres from the main promenade and restaurant area.   The film track sound was provided both by live sound and FM transmission.  Most of the viewers were positioned on the many yachts moored at the boat harbour.  However many viewers emerged from the restaurants for a truly inovative and exciting experience and a first for Melbourne.
